Alrededor de las 9:33 am del día 20, se produjo un incendio en el Hotel Kolon Seacloud en Haeundae, Busan. Se cree que comenzó en el sótano del hotel y rápidamente se propagó a los pisos superiores. Los servicios de emergencia fueron alertados de inmediato y llegaron al lugar en pocos minutos para comenzar a evacuar a los huéspedes y tratar de controlar las llamas.
