In Uganda, terrorism remains a worrying security threat, as recently evidenced by the attack in Mpondwe, located in the western region of the country. In view of this situation, it is important to carefully consider the need for travel in areas within 50 kilometres of the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, excluding the eastern shores of Lake Albert. It is also crucial for LGBTQI+ travellers to carefully assess the risks of travelling to Uganda in light of the recent adoption of a new Anti-Homosexuality Act in May.
