Chile. Aeropuerto de Calama. Huelga inesperada de los servicios de handling.
La aerolínea LATAM tuvo que cancelar el 19 de marzo 12 vuelos con motivo de la huelga inesperada de los servicios de handling en el aeropuerto de Calama (CJC), oficialmente llamado «Aeropuerto Internacional El Loa», ubicado en la Región de Antofagasta, Chile. Se trata del principal aeropuerto y uno de los más importantes del norte de Chile. Este aeródromo ofrece conexiones nacionales e internacionales. A nivel nacional, conecta a Calama con diversas ciudades importantes de Chile, como Santiago (SCL), Antofagasta (ANF), Iquique (IQQ), Arica (ARI) entre otras. A nivel internacional, ofrece vuelos a destinos en países vecinos, especialmente en Argentina.
Estos servicios de handling desempeñan un papel fundamental en asegurar que las operaciones en tierra en los aeropuertos se lleven a cabo de manera fluida y segura, contribuyendo así al funcionamiento eficiente de las operaciones aeroportuarias y de las aerolíneas.
Actualmente el servicio aeroportuario se encuentra reestablecido. No obstante, no se puede descartar que pueda volver a producirse por lo que se aconseja a aquellos viajeros que tengan previsto viajar desde y hacia Calama revisen el estado de su vuelo y consideren como llevar el equipaje de mano así como acudir al aeropuerto con tiempo suficiente para evitar inconvenientes.

LATAM Airlines had to cancel 12 flights on 19 March due to the unexpected strike of the handling services at Calama Airport (CJC), officially called «El Loa International Airport», located in the Antofagasta Region, Chile. It is the main airport and one of the most important airports in northern Chile. This aerodrome offers national and international connections. At national level, it connects Calama with several important cities in Chile, such as Santiago (SCL), Antofagasta (ANF), Iquique (IQQ), Arica (ARI) among others. Internationally, it offers flights to destinations in neighbouring countries, especially Argentina.
These handling services play a fundamental role in ensuring that ground operations at airports are carried out smoothly and safely, thus contributing to the efficient functioning of airport and airline operations.
The airport service is currently restored. However, it cannot be ruled out that it could happen again, so travellers planning to travel to and from Calama are advised to check the status of their flight and consider how to carry hand luggage as well as to arrive at the airport in good time to avoid inconveniences.
