Letonia. Actualización sobre seguridad.

El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores ha actualizado la información sobre seguridad en Letonia. Aunque la seguridad en Riga (RIX) es buena, es importante tomar precauciones debido a la frecuencia de robos menores a turistas en zonas turísticas.

Los viajeros deben ser especialmente cautelosos en los barrios periféricos de Riga, sobre todo durante la noche. Además, se recomienda tener precaución en los locales de ocio nocturno y sus alrededores, especialmente en el casco histórico de la ciudad en horario nocturno.

La policía local ha emitido una serie de recomendaciones para los turistas que visitan la región: antes de hacer un pedido, exija ver la lista de precios; pague con euros en efectivo; si se paga con una tarjeta de crédito, comprobar el importe pagado y pedir recibo o justificante; utilizar taxis oficiales que presenten una matrícula de color amarillo con las letras “TX” y asegurarse que el taxímetro está en funcionamiento, entre otras recomendaciones.

Latvia. Security update.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has updated information on security in Latvia. Although security in Riga (RIX) is good, it is important to take precautions due to the frequency of petty theft from tourists in tourist areas.

Travellers should be especially cautious in the suburbs of Riga, especially at night. In addition, caution is advised in and around nightlife venues, especially in the historic city centre at night.

The local police have issued a number of recommendations for tourists visiting the region: before placing an order, ask to see the price list; pay with euros in cash; if paying with a credit card, check the amount paid and ask for a receipt; use official taxis with a yellow number plate with the letters «TX» and make sure that the taximeter is working, among other recommendations.
