Bélgica. Huelga ferroviaria de 24 horas afecta conexiones regionales e internacionales. 8 de abril.
Una huelga nacional de 24 horas, convocada por los sindicatos dará comienzo el 7 de abril a las 22:00 hora local y se extenderá hasta el 8 de abril a la misma hora. Esta movilización sindical afecta el tráfico ferroviario en todo el país, con especial repercusión en las conexiones regionales y en los accesos a los aeropuertos internacionales.
Según la empresa operadora del servicio ferroviario, solo tres de cada cinco trenes Intercity (IC) circularán durante la jornada del martes. Asimismo, el servicio de trenes Locales (L) y Suburbanos (S) se verá reducido a dos de cada cinco frecuencias. Los trenes P, que operan principalmente en horas punta, se verán aún más afectados, con solo uno de cada cinco en circulación.
Una de las zonas más impactadas será la estación de Ottignies, donde no circularán trenes entre las 22:00 del lunes y las 06:00 del martes. Las líneas que quedarán totalmente interrumpidas son las que conectan: Namur (QNM), Gembloux, Ottignies y Watermael; Ottignies, Wavre y Sint-Joris-Weert y Ottignies y Fleurus.
Esta situación complica los desplazamientos hacia varios aeropuertos clave del país:
– Aeropuerto de Bruselas (BRU): los servicios ferroviarios que enlazan con esta terminal desde ciudades como Namur (QNM) o Gembloux se verán afectados por las cancelaciones y retrasos.
– Aeropuerto de Charleroi (CRL): aunque no cuenta con conexión ferroviaria directa, los viajeros que utilizan tren hasta Fleurus o Gembloux para tomar posteriormente un servicio de autobús al aeropuerto también se verán perjudicados.
– Aeropuerto de Amberes (ANR) y Aeropuerto de Ostende-Brujas (OST): si bien no son los más utilizados por los viajeros de negocios, los desplazamientos hacia estas terminales desde el interior del país también podrían experimentar alteraciones por las limitaciones del servicio ferroviario.
Además, los sindicatos han anunciado que el tráfico ferroviario también se verá interrumpido durante el resto de los martes del mes de abril: los días 15, 22 y 29. Se prevé una nueva huelga general para el martes 29 de abril, lo que podría agravar aún más los problemas de movilidad.
– Se recomienda a los viajeros que revisen con antelación los horarios actualizados en la web de SNCB/NMBS y que contemplen rutas alternativas en transporte privado o en autobús.
– Aquellos que tengan vuelos programados desde los aeropuertos de Bruselas (BRU), Charleroi (CRL), Amberes (ANR) u Ostende (OST) deben prever retrasos significativos y salir con mayor antelación.
– Se sugiere considerar servicios de transporte compartido, alquiler de vehículos o traslados privados, especialmente para tramos con conexiones ferroviarias suspendidas como Ottignies-Fleurus.
– Evitar viajes no esenciales los martes de abril ya que las movilizaciones se repetirán durante todo el mes y afectarán al conjunto de la red ferroviaria nacional.
Los viajeros con conexiones internacionales, especialmente aquellos que utilicen trenes de alta velocidad como el Thalys o Eurostar desde Bruselas (BRU) deben estar atentos a posibles alteraciones de servicio.

A 24-hour national strike called by the unions will begin on 7 April at 22:00 local time and will last until 8 April at the same time. This union mobilisation affects rail traffic throughout the country, with a particular impact on regional connections and access to international airports.
According to the railway service operator, only three out of every five Intercity (IC) trains will run on Tuesday. In addition, the Local (L) and Suburban (S) train services will be reduced to two out of every five frequencies. The P trains, which mainly operate at peak times, will be even more affected, with only one out of every five in circulation.
One of the areas most affected will be Ottignies station, where there will be no trains running between 22:00 on Monday and 06:00 on Tuesday. The lines that will be completely interrupted are those connecting: Namur (QNM), Gembloux, Ottignies and Watermael; Ottignies, Wavre and Sint-Joris-Weert and Ottignies and Fleurus.
This situation complicates travel to several key airports in the country:
– Brussels Airport (BRU): rail services to this terminal from cities such as Namur (QNM) or Gembloux will be affected by cancellations and delays.
– Charleroi Airport (CRL): although there is no direct rail connection, travellers who take the train to Fleurus or Gembloux and then a bus to the airport will also be affected.
Antwerp Airport (ANR) and Ostend-Bruges Airport (OST): although they are not the most frequently used by business travellers, travel to these terminals from the interior of the country could also be affected by the limitations of the rail service.
In addition, the unions have announced that rail traffic will also be disrupted on the remaining Tuesdays in April: the 15th, 22nd and 29th. A new general strike is planned for Tuesday 29th April, which could further aggravate mobility problems.
– Travellers are advised to check the updated timetables on the SNCB/NMBS website in advance and to consider alternative routes by private transport or bus.
– Those with scheduled flights from Brussels (BRU), Charleroi (CRL), Antwerp (ANR) or Ostend (OST) airports should expect significant delays and leave earlier.
– It is suggested that you consider shared transport services, car hire or private transfers, especially for sections with suspended rail connections such as Ottignies – Fleurus.
– Avoid non-essential travel on Tuesdays in April as the mobilisations will be repeated throughout the month and will affect the entire national rail network.
Travellers with international connections, especially those using high-speed trains such as Thalys or Eurostar from Brussels (BRU), should be alert to possible service disruptions.
