Una huelga de personal del Aeropuerto de Londres Gatwick (LGW) está programada del 12 al 14 y del 19 al 21 de julio en la que están convocados más de 300 empleados de seguridad y servicios al pasajero que han anunciado su participación. Los empleados afectados pertenecen a las compañías ICTS y Wilson James, especializadas en servicios de asistencia y seguridad aeroportuaria.
La protesta laboral, motivada por desacuerdos salariales, involucra a 200 trabajadores de asistencia especial y a 100 inspectores de seguridad de equipaje. Se anticipa que la huelga podría generar una interrupción significativa en los controles de seguridad y los servicios al pasajero en uno de los aeropuertos más transitados del país.
El sindicato Unite ha alertado además sobre posibles afectaciones en los servicios de Easyjet, una de las principales aerolíneas que opera en Gatwick (LGW). Además más de 100 conductores de vehículos pesados y trabajadores de almacén, encargados del catering a bordo, están considerando la huelga tras una votación, añadiendo más presión sobre los servicios aeroportuarios durante los mencionados días.
Las negociaciones siguen abiertas y existe la posibilidad de evitar la huelga si las empresas implicadas llegan a un acuerdo satisfactorio con los trabajadores a tiempo.
– Se recomienda a los viajeros con vuelos programados desde o hacia Gatwick (LGW) en las fechas indicadas verificar el estado de su vuelo con la aerolínea antes de dirigirse al aeropuerto.
