Venecia ha finalizado la prueba piloto de la tasa turística, una medida pionera en Italia que se implementó en abril. La ciudad se convirtió en el primer destino en cobrar una tarifa a los viajeros simplemente por entrar en su territorio. Ahora, las autoridades están considerando prolongar esta medida de cara al año 2025 y aumentar el importe de 5 a 10 euros, con el mismo objetivo de disuadir a los viajeros para evitar la masificación.
La tasa turística, que entró en vigor el 25 de abril, se aplicaba durante los días festivos y fines de semana. Los viajeros interesados en visitar Venecia debían registrarse completando un formulario on line y pagar una tarifa de entrada de 5 euros. Esta medida afectaba a la mayoría de los viajeros, excepto a aquellos que se alojasen en la ciudad por motivos de ocio o trabajo, quienes visitasen a familiares, estudiantes matriculados en instituciones locales, así como a los nacidos en Venecia y los menores de 14 años.

Venice has completed the pilot test of the tourist tax, a pioneering measure in Italy that was implemented in April. The city became the first destination to charge a fee to travellers simply for entering its territory. Now, the authorities are considering extending the measure to 2025 and increasing the amount from 5 to 10 euros, with the same objective of discouraging travellers to avoid overcrowding.
The tourist tax, which came into force on 25 April, was applied on public holidays and weekends. Travellers interested in visiting Venice had to register by completing an online form and pay an entrance fee of 5 euros. This measure affected most travellers, except those staying in the city for leisure or work purposes, those visiting relatives, students enrolled in local institutions, as well as those born in Venice and children under 14 years of age.
