El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores ha actualizado la información sobre Letonia. Aunque la seguridad en Riga es buena, es importante tomar precauciones debido a la frecuencia de robos menores a turistas en zonas turísticas. También se han registrado peleas en los alrededores de locales nocturnos y dentro de ellos. Se ha detectado que algunos bares y discotecas en el casco antiguo de la capital cobran precios exorbitantes por las consumiciones y cuentan con la colaboración de terceros para atraer turistas y robarles posteriormente. Además, se han utilizado redes sociales como Facebook y Tinder para el mismo fin. Se recomienda extremar las precauciones.
n el pasado se han detectado algunos casos de retención de extranjeros por agentes de tráfico de la policía de Letonia que, esgrimiendo faltas contra la seguridad vial, solicitaron sobornos a los conductores para permitirles continuar su trayecto. En caso de verse involucrado en una situación de este tipo, se recomienda prudencia en el trato, tomar nota del mayor número de datos posibles de los agentes implicados y, en su caso, presentar la correspondiente denuncia.
