Servicios consulares recuerdan que desde la salida de Reino Unido de la Unión Europea tras el Brexit, se recuerda a los ciudadanos europeos que deseen entrar en el país o tengan vuelos de conexión en el mismo, es necesario viajar con el pasaporte en vigor. El Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI) en el caso de los ciudadanos con nacionalidad española ha dejado de ser válido como documento de viaje, excepto en Gibraltar. Solo aquellas personas que hayan solicitado el “EU Settlement Scheme» y posean el settled o el pre-settled status o estén esperando la resolución de su solicitud, podrán seguir utilizando el DNI hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2025.
Los principales aeropuertos donde los viajeros tendrán controles fronterizos y deberán mostrar su pasaporte son, entre otros, el aeropuerto de Heathrow (LHR), Aeropuerto de Gatwick (LGW), Aeropuerto de Stansted (STN), Aeropuerto de Luton (LTN), Aeropuerto de London City (LCY), Aeropuerto de Manchester (MAN), Aeropuerto de Birmingham (BHX), Aeropuerto de Edimburgo (EDI) y Aeropuerto de Glasgow (GLA).
Para garantizar un viaje sin contratiempos, se aconseja a los ciudadanos europeos que planifiquen con antelación y verifiquen la validez de su pasaporte antes de emprender el viaje al Reino Unido.

Consular services remind that since the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union after Brexit, European citizens who wish to enter the country or have connecting flights in the country are reminded that it is necessary to travel with a valid passport. The National Identity Card (DNI) is no longer valid as a travel document for Spanish nationals, except in Gibraltar. Only those who have applied for the EU Settlement Scheme and have settled or pre-settled status, or are awaiting a decision on their application, will be able to continue to use their DNI until 31 December 2025.
