Air traffic controllers’ strike in Italy on 26 July. Fires in Sardinia causes a state of emergency.

High risk. A national air traffic controllers’ strike in Italy is planned on 26 July 2021 from 10.00 a.m to 20.00 p.m. Alitalia was therefore forced to cancel some domestic and international flights scheduled for 26 July and at least 500 flights should be canceled with inconvenience for over 65,000 travelers.
Travelers affected by cancellation or schedule change of Alitalia flights on 26 July can rebook their travel at no additional cost or penalty or ask for a full ticket refund within 9 August 2021.
Alitalia recommends to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport. In any case, passengers involved in cancellations can check on which flight they have been rebooked by connecting to the site (details here)

An active wildfire in Sardinia’s Oristano area has triggered localized evacuations as of July 26 and the situation in Sardinia remains very critical. A state of emergency has been declared in Sardinia due to the fire. Further evacuations are possible in the coming days, especially if the fire continues to spread.
Road closures are likely in the Oristano area due to evacuation orders, reduced visibility, and firefighting activities associated with the wildfire. Charge battery-powered devices in the case of prolonged power outages. Seek updated information on road conditions if driving in affected areas; road closures and detours will cause increased congestion and delays.
