SPAIN. The Cercanías commuter rail network train drivers strike was called off on Thursday evening as trade union Semaf and Renfe. The stoppage was called for eight days, and three were still remaining: October 8, 11, and 12. Yet, the service is expected to be provided as usual from Friday after the deal.

ITALY. Rome commuters face disruption to public transport services due to a strike on Monday 11 October from 08.30 until 17.00 and from 20.00 until end of service.
The strike will affect Rome’s network of buses, trams, metro and the light-rail services Roma-Lido, Termini-Centocelle and Roma-Nord operated by municipal transport company ATAC, as well as bus services provided by Roma TPL and Cotral in the suburbs and greater Rome area.
However services will be guaranteed during the busiest rush hour periods in the morning and evening: until 08.30 and from 17.00 until 20.00.

The trade unions CUB Trasporti, SGB, COBAS and USB Lavoro Privato have joined the general strike of all public and private categories, from 21:00 on 10 October 2021 to 21:00 on 11 October 2021, which also involves the rail transport sector. Therefore, the regional, suburban, long distance and airport services may be subject to variations and/or cancellations. In the event of cancellation of the trains of the airport service and Malpensa Express, the following measures will be established:

• Buses to Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport for airport connections only between “Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport” (without intermediate stops). From Milan Cadorna buses will depart from via Paleocapa 1.
• Bus to Stabio and Malpensa Airport to guarantee the airport connection S50 “Malpensa Aeroporto – Stabio” (without intermediate stops).

Travelers in Rome are advised to confirm their travel itineraries and to allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
